A caterpillar from the Sphingidae Latreille, 1802 family – Sarawak / Borneo around 950m ASL
I found this caterpillar crawling on the ground, it can be assumed that it was already in the metamorphosis phase and was therefore on the ground looking for a place to pupate.
The large enlarged shield in the head area is really remarkable. The animal also seems to be practicing a mimicry that resembles a dead curled leaf.
