Malcolm’s pitviper, Trimeresurus malcolmi Loveridge, 1938 – of Sabah / Borneo
Trimeresurus malcolmi is probably considered the ‘holy grail’ among the pit vipers in Borneo, not least because this viper only occurs above 1000m ASL. There are local reports that the species has been sighted at 800m, but this should be an exception. The vertical distribution limit seems to be around 1800 – 1900m ASL.
Trimeresurus malcolmi has been recorded from Mt Kinabalu, but the species does not occur exclusively there.
